The Family Committee at Las Campanas has been busy on a number of fronts to bring terrific family-centric activities to our membership. This is especially significant as we cycle into the busy summer season, when our youngsters have more time to enjoy the excellent facilities and creative energy that our Las Campanas Club provides.
In the golf arena, junior golf (for ages 6-17), headed by Don Byus, has continued to see youngster participation on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The number of kids in each golf session has been dependent on the weather—with 3 to 8 kids, on average. The spring junior golf program will continue throughout May—with Tuesday and Thursday sessions from 4-5:30 p.m. ($30) and a Sunday session from 3-5 p.m. ($35). A 10-package deal is offered with 24-hours notice at $275. The junior golf program is co-ed, but will be divided by gender if more than 13 participants are enrolled.
Dates for the Junior Golf Camp at Las Campanas have altered slightly from what was listed on the Las Campanas Club calendar. The new dates are: June 27-July 1; July 11-15, and August 8-12. Las Campanas Camp is geared for kids ages 5-14 and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact the Golf Shop at Las Campanas to learn more about any of our golf programs: 505-995-3535.
A new seasonal tennis pro has joined the tennis program at Las Campanas and we are excited about the energy that Rocky Royer will bring to the table. A Tennis Camp program, for youngsters ages 10-16, will incorporate fundamentals of strokes and begin to prepare for match play. The camp will run four days per week, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.: June 6-10, June 20-24, July 11-15, July 25-29, and August 8-12 at Las Campanas. Cowpoke Camp is back at Las Campanas this year with another opportunity for youngsters to spend a week with a horse to call their own—grooming, tacking up, riding, and more. Four one-week sessions begin July 5; Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. A week session costs $375 for Las Campanas members, $400 for guests. Of course the big news is that a new summer camp concept at Las Campanas is launching this year—Tennis, Golf, and Swim Camp –for older campers, ages 10-14, with an emphasis on sports, utilizing our outstanding club facilities and the experience of our club pros. TGS runs five days for 11 weeks beginning June 13, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Camp Campanas is a terrific summer camp choice for the younger kiddos, offering a combination of sports and arts and also runs Monday-Friday for 11 weeks, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Both camps provide lunch and snacks. TGS is $260/week, $70/day and Camp Campanas costs $325/week and $90/day. Your children’s friends are welcome to join them at the camps at The Club at Las Campanas—please have them contact Katie Rael at 505-995-3656 for rate information (and please use the same contact to sign up member children.) Both camps will be held on Monday, July 4—if your child is not enrolled for the entire week, consider signing them up for a single day.
The Memorial Day Pool Party and BBQ is set for Monday, May 30, from 11:30 am to 2 p.m. at the pool at the Fitness & Tennis Center at Las Campanas. Poolside fun is guaranteed, with a rockin’ D.J. and a delicious barbecue. A kids’ program coordinator will be poolside to keep youngsters entertained. The cost is $25++ per person; kids 4 and under are free and kids ages 5-11 are 50% off. We hope to see all of you at the Club’s summer kick-off!
The Spa Café at Las Campanas will officially open for business on Memorial Day weekend – Saturday, May 28. The hours of operation will be 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Other great summer family dining options include Mangia and Hot Coals at the Log Cabin—both offer casual environments and kid-friendly fare. Mangia Mondays kick off on May 31 and Hot Coals Tuesdays begin June 6. The hours of operation for both evenings are 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., and the Mixed Grill at the Clubhouse at Las Campanas is closed for dinner on both these nights.
A Member Teen Pool Party for kids graduating from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades is in the works for Friday, June 3, from 6-9 p.m. and will feature a D.J. and BBQ fare. All of your children’s friends are welcome to enjoy this end-of-the-school-year blast. (We currently are limiting the participants to 150 for safety concerns.) The cost is $17 inclusive and reservations are via the Las Campanas Concierge: 505-995-3500. Simultaneously, a cocktail reception for parents of the children at the pool party (6-9 p.m.) will be held on the Event Room Portal. Cocktails will be available with a credit card and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be featured.
July 4th at Las Campanas is sure to be a family fun-filled extravaganza. This year’s theme is Strike Up the Band – An American Song & Dance Revue featuring patriotic standards to today’s chart toppers– performed by a troupe of talent to beat the band. And a fantastic light show will leave you breathless. Call 505-995-3605 for reservations. $119++ per person (children’s pricing applies). In addition, supervised childcare is available this evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. During the day, there will be a July 4th Pool Party and BBQ. This is one busy and exciting day at the Club at Las Campanas!
