I wanted to pass along an update on the Las Campanas Golf Operation early this week, we have good news to report.
The Las Campanas agronomy team has begun Aerification to the tees and greens on the Sunrise course and will be finished by week’s end, six weeks ahead of schedule. We took this opportunity in large part (which is a direct result of the mild winter and warmer temperatures) to minimize the impact to your experience heading into season, which would have been affected by aerifying while the work to Sunset was being completed.
As a result, the Sunrise Greens will be in much better condition as we head into May. As always, recovery will depend on soil temperatures. Assuming our weather pattern holds, we expect them to be in good shape 10-14 days after Aerification this week. Do note that this will cause an interruption to play this week with the courses being closed through Friday, March 20th.
In addition to moving up Aerification, we will be moving the cups to the regulation greens beginning Saturday, March 21st, as soon as the courses Aerification has been completed.
Several members have asked about our timeline for allowing cart access to the fairways. In order to prevent damage and wear to the blue grass rough as we transition out of winter, carts will remain on the paths until the end of March; a decision on the exact date for allowing cart access to the fairways will be made at the beginning of April.
In addition to the above, please make note of the following details as we head into spring
The Pro Shop Schedule will go to seven days a week Monday, March 23rd
The Golf Shop hours are from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. through Tuesday, March 31st
Beginning April 1st, The Golf Shop hours are from 8:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
The first Tee Time each morning is at 9:30 a.m., weather depending, through the end of April
The main range tee is still on schedule to open May 1st at the latest. As with the courses, we will continue to monitor the weather and get it opened sooner if possible. The rear tee and the Golf Performance Center remain open for practice during our normal hours of operation.
Lastly, please make note our BIG spring sale begins this Saturday, March 21st. All merchandise must go and is marked 50%-70% off!!! New merchandise hits the floor early in April, we are very excited about our merchandise mix for the spring. Vendors include Peter Millar, Polo, Donald Ross, EP Pro, Sport Haley, Adidas, Dunning and many more.
