However, if you know of someone who went through the foreclosure process between 01-01-09 and 12-31-10, this information is worthwhile to forward to them. Although there were notices mailed out to borrowers who might be eligible for foreclosure remediation funds, it seems that perhaps it was just “too much information”, or the borrowers who received such notifications thought it might be a scam. Less than 4% of those eligible to receive some type of foreclosure relief have applied. Another notice is being sent out, but the deadline for filing for the foreclosure relief funds is July 31, 2012. The fund has $1.5 BILLION to pay out to those affected by foreclosure within the aforementioned period. All of the major banks/servicers, including Countrywide, Chase, Citibank, Wells Fargo and Bank of America are lenders whose foreclosures are included in this settlement.
