Santa Fe is the has the best food among small U.S. cities in a national competition.

Santa Fe is the small city with the best food in the country, according to the Rand McNally/USA Today “Best of the Road Rally.”“We barely had time to scratch the surface of the city’s amazing food scene,” Santa Fe Convention & Visitors Bureau Marketing Director Cynthia Delgado said. “There was only time for a small sample of Santa Fe’s 200 plus restaurants and every one could have wowed the judges.”The SFCVB was one of a group of Santa Fe boosters that attempted to tantalize visiting judges Mike Shubic and Brian Cox with the city’s food and sights.Online voting determined six finalist towns in five categories. Each town was then visited by a two-person team of judges. Winners were announced at the Destination Marketing Association International annual convention in Seattle July 17.In addition, video crews from the Travel Channel chronicled the journey the judges went through in each city. A one-hour show highlighting the experience will air July 25.Other cities in the best food category were Lewiston, N.Y., Burnsville, Minn., Bloomington, Ind., Charlottesville, Va., and Walla Walla, Wash.
