Las Campanas Director of Golf Brad Lardon qualifies for PGA Championship
This past week Brad Lardon tied for 13th-place at the 49th PGA Professional Championship at Turning Stone Resort to qualify for the 98th PGA Championship, played July 28-31 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. Lardon shot 68-73-73-72/286 to finish two-under to the tournament. The top 20 finishers earned a spot in the PGA Championship.
Brad will be making his third appearance in the PGA Championship, having played in 2007 and 2011. He has also played the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2004, making the cut in 2002 at Bethpage State Park. Please join us in wishing Brad the best of luck in his journey to Baltusrol!
Sunday Couples Cup – July 3, 10, 17 and 24
After a week away, the Sunday Couples Cup action heats up as we head into July with 4 consecutive weeks of action. In total there are 7 weeks remaining to earn points towards the season long championship. Again, only your best 6 scores will count towards the season long points total. Sign-up on Foretees.
TaylorMade Demo Day – New Date – July 9th – Noon – 4:00pm
The Professional Staff and representatives from TaylorMade will be at the Practice Park with all the latest and great including M1 and M2 irons, hybrids, woods and drivers. We hope you will come out and enjoy testing some new product with us! Custom fitting is available at no charge.
Firecracker Open – Monday, July 4th
A four person scramble with a few twists on the course. The Firecracker is a great way to start the holiday, the format is designed to ensure you have fun! 8:30 shotgun start, we’ll have a nice 4th of July BBQ lunch and awards following play at 1:00. There is space available to create your own team and we would be pleased to pair you up.
Ladies’ Day & Men’s League – Wednesday, July 6th
Please join us this coming Wednesday, July 6th for Ladies’ Day and Men’s League. The Ladies will be playing Odds and Evens, 1 Net Best Ball on the ODD holes and 2 Net Best Ball on the EVEN holes. The Men will be playing with members of the Professional Staff in a 2 Net Best Ball Shamble, meaning you select the best positioned drive and play your own ball in from there. All play will be off Sunset at 9:00 am.
Golf Marathon – 100 Holes – July 12th
We need your support! Brad Lardon, Kyle Capps and two additional members of the Professional Staff are playing 100 holes each – 400 in total, to raise money for The Las Campanas Community Foundation, The Folds of Honor Foundation, and The PGA Junior golf Foundation. Over the past four years we have raised nearly $75,000. Thank you in advance for your contribution and support of the Professional Staff as they embrace this challenge!
The Las Campanas Ryder Cup – Texas vs RoW – July 16th
Losers buy lunch. The tradition continues July 11th, 8:30 Shotgun start. This is a fun match play event where players of like handicaps participate against each other. We need players! You can sign up online, by reply to this email or with the golf shop directly.
Junior Golf Camp
Our summer camps are fantastic. We reach out to junior golfers on their level, making learning the game contagious. We have space in camp next week and several other sessions throughout the summer. Contact msmith@clublc.com
Santa Fe City Championship – July 21st
2016 City of Santa Fe Golf Championship which will feature a 3-day competition starting Thursday, July 21st through Saturday, July 23rd.This highly-anticipated and favored tournament will feature some of the best, golfers in Santa Fe County and boasts a great opportunity to watch the very best amateur golfers break through within their respective flight category.
New to this years tournament, golfers will take advantage of a 3 course format, kicking off at La Campanas and makes its way to the Santa Fe Country Club and concludes at Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe. The tournament itself boasts a long history of tradition by attracting up-and-coming amateur players as well as the city’s most well-known golf sport enthusiasts.
