Tourism is the only industry that consistently proves an exceptional 40 to 1 return on taxpayer investment dollars. That is, for every $1 spent advertising New Mexico to tourists, $40 is spent by tourists in New Mexico. Tourism is a $5.7 billion industry and generates $739 million in tax revenues.
