We are very excited to report that The Club’s Board recently voted on and approved the construction of a state of the art Golf Teaching Center at Las Campanas. The facility will be located on the near side of the driving range at Las Campanas, just in front of where the teaching office was located. The layout of the Teaching Center is in the final stages of planning and will be consistent with other facilities at clubs similar in size and structure to Las Campanas. It will be outfitted with golf’s finest technology for instruction and will incorporate club fitting, multiple teaching aides and a fitness component. The building’s size will be approximately 2,800 square feet.

We have been looking into the feasibility of building this facility for over a year and we feel the benefits are numerous, including:

  • Enhanced player development using high-end technology
  • The ability to work on your game extensively over the winter
  • Lessons can continue and the facility can be utilized during poor weather and lightning delays
  • Member recruitment
  • The use of the facility for golf-specific social gatherings

Las Campanas members David and Pam Albin helped make this facility a reality and are underwriting the costs.

The Albin’s son Ben, who is a sophomore at the Albuquerque Academy, is an accomplished Junior Golfer and our Club Champion. Ben recently signed an equipment support contract with Titleist (these are reserved for elite players who have the potential of competing at golf’s highest levels in the years ahead). The Center will allow Ben to continue his training year round locally with his long time coach and Las Campanas golf member Artie McNickle. Artie (who is a member of the PGA of America and a former PGA Tour Player), will be working with several players currently participating on various Professional Tours at the facility as well.

Our Head of Instruction, Pete Huber, and the Professional Staff are extremely excited about the Teaching Center and are looking forward to the positive effect it will have on player development, game improvement and the overall feel of the golf operation. From both an instructional and learning perspective the facility will be world class.

I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks. Our goal is to have the center up and running close to the beginning of this summer.

With best wishes,
