Las Campanas Golf Update

As we head into the 2012 golf season, the Director of Golf at Las Campanas wanst to spotlight our impressive golf event calendar and update you on key areas of the Golf Operation. There are many exciting and new events in which to participate over the next few months, and this year’s professional staff is exceptionally well suited to running the golf program. In addition to Erin Kato and Chris Nieto, we welcome PGA Master Teaching Professional Pete Huber. Trevor Coughlin returns this season, and PGA Professionals Charlie Becker, Cortney Shrout, and Kyle Brannan round out our golf staff. From playing golf to custom fitting to answering questions on all things golf, our team is dedicated to making your golf experience at Las Campanas world class.
The next 125 days at the Club at Las Campanas will be very active; there is something for everyone. Below are a few highlights; May 5th  Opening Day Tournament/Tequila Sunrise (Don’t forget about the other Club Two-Year Anniversary events – Bronze Unveiling 11 a.m.; evening party 6 p.m.)

Other golf activities at Las Campanas include The Sundown Series (held most Fridays), monthly Free Lesson Days, two Guest Days (bring up to three guests at no charge), weekly complimentary Golf Clinics hosted by the Pros, and Demo Days for all top golf manufacturers, and a One-Day Member-Guest for both men and women.
This year, Men’s Day has a new identity—each Monday and Wednesday  players can participate in a daily skins game—we will set aside mid-morning times for those players wishing to be paired up. We also look forward to seeing all women golfers at The Club each Wednesday for Ladies’ Day! Hats off to the newly formed Ladies’ Committee—and its efforts to create a strong sense of camaraderie among The Club at Las Campanas’ women golfers.
Afterschool Junior Golf continues every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday through early summer and leads up to four week-long Junior Golf Camp sessions. Building on the success of last summer, these are sure to fill up fast. Junior lessons and customized clinics also are available. Don’t miss out on our Junior-Adult Tournament and Family Championship, which are sure to provide great memories. And be sure to take advantage of our Afternoon Family On-Course Play (every day after 4 p.m.) and Family Golf Lessons, both offer a wonderful opportunity for families to play the great game together.

I am certain that our lesson program will develop considerably in the coming months due to the addition of PGA Master Professional Pete Huber. To book a lesson with Pete, please contact the Golf Shop at Las Campanas, register online via ForeTees, or contact him directly at (505) 995-3687. Please mark your calendar for our Meet & Greet with Pete on April 27th!
We strive to offer golf programming that reaches out to every member—and we look forward to sharing new information with you in the coming weeks. Equally as important, each of the Professionals is strongly encouraged to play with the membership! They are proud members of the PGA of America and have solid experience with game improvement on all levels and are available for instruction. Don’t miss out on our USGA Rules Seminar on May 23 hosted by Mark Swanson from the Sun Country Golf House. Also, the staff is in the process of checking your grips and will be sending you out a report card on them in the coming days via email.
One of my goals this season is to play with as many members as possible. To this end, I have set aside one tee time every Thursday at 10 a.m. for a Play with Your Pro Day. Call the Golf Shop at Las Campanas to sign up on a space-available-basis to join me! Another goal is for my staff and me to facilitate members meeting and playing golf with one another—we will actively work to introduce you to other golf players this season.
For those of you still unfamiliar with ForeTees, we will hold hour-long familiarization sessions throughout May and June to get you up to speed. ForeTees is so much more than a tee time system—it will be the premier source for our event registration and is a terrific and easy way to book lessons, post your scores, and find up-to-date information on the courses.

Beginning May 1, the Las Campanas Golf Shop hours are 7 a.m.- 6 p.m., seven-days-a week. The Driving Range at Las Campanas is open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. during the week, with the exception on Mondays when the range opens at 2 p.m. due to ongoing maintenance. As a reminder, all 36 holes open May 1, and the main tee on the Las Campanas Driving Range will open around that date as well. Please note that we will be aerifying the greens on Sunset from April 30 to May 2 and Sunrise from May 14 to May 16.
I want to thank Tom Egelhoff and his team for all of the hard work they have done over the winter. The courses are in excellent condition and the Standardization Project looks fantastic.
I encourage each of you to participate in the Club’s golf activities! Your support of The Club at Las Campanas by participating in these great events goes a long way to ensuring our success. I am confident that with our continued commitment to professional service, exceptional member experience, member events, and building relationships with our members, this year’s golf season at Las Campanas will be a memorable one. I look forward to seeing you personally at the course soon.
Regards,
Jason Epstein, PGA
