Jason Epstein, PGA, is pleased to report for Las Campanas golf members that we are planning to open Sunset at Las Campanas this coming Friday, May 15th. Although we are opening the course, please note the bunkers will not have sand in them. All of the design work has been completed; however we are still waiting on the bunker sand to arrive.
As such, the bunkers will be played as ground under repair; play from the bunkers will be prohibited until they have sand. We will continue to keep you updated weekly on the progress of the sand delivery and hope to have good news next week.
Our plan is to have the crew work on one hole at a time as the sand arrives, keeping the hole they are working on closed to play. Once the sand arrives, the front loop (holes 1-6 & 16-18) will be addressed first followed by the back loop.
I think you’ll be pleased with the changes that were made to the course and I know everyone is looking forward to playing out of the new sand. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
